THE CITY OPEN AIR CINEMA CELEBRATES ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY... UNDER THE STARS!
We start the festivities with the unmissable City Open Air Cinema! ✨
The Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg brings out its big screen for a very special edition… and not just any: this year, the open-air screenings celebrate their 40th anniversary! 🎂
Since 1986, the festival has transformed summer evenings into true open-air cinema events. And for this new edition, the cinema returns to its spot in the heart of the city, on Place Guillaume II, from July 23 to 28, 2026, for six evenings of laughter, emotions, and great cinematic moments.
A small novelty this year: after a stop in Pfaffenthal last summer, the Cinémathèque also sets up its projectors in Bonnevoie. Head to the charming Place Léon XIII from August 6 to 8, 2026 for three additional evenings under the stars 🌙
On the program? A five-star lineup, with cult films that have nothing to envy to the stars that will twinkle above you. Among others: La Boum, Lola rennt, and Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn… the perfect opportunity to (re)discover these great classics, comfortably seated under the stars.
It's free and open to everyone! Arrive a little early, settle down on a deckchair (first come, first served basis) or on your blanket, chair, piece of cardboard 😜, have a drink at the aperitif from 8:30 PM and enjoy this little magic of summer evenings 🍿
A few drops in the program? Don't panic, the screenings are maintained. After all, a bit of rain has never ruined a beautiful love story… especially at the cinema 😉

From July 29 to August 4, set up your blanket, gather your loved ones, and enjoy great movies on a giant screen in a warm and friendly summer atmosphere.
On the program: comedies, adventures, emotions, and movies for young and old. And of course, it's 100% free! ✨
Before the screening, the atmosphere begins at 7 PM with food trucks, fresh drinks, and sweet treats. And to settle in comfortably, deck chairs are available (first come, first served) or you can bring your own chair or blanket.

On August 29, the Dr. Fernand Kons Square in Remich transforms into an open-air cinema for an evening full of laughter, emotions, and popcorn.

🐢 At 6:00 PM, enjoy Pumuckl and the Great Misunderstanding, a family adventure full of warmth and twists (Language: German, subtitles: French).
💕 At 8:30 PM, catch Bridget Jones – Mad About the Boy for a dose of good humor and situations as funny as they are improbable (Language: English, subtitles: German and French).

SUNSET CINEMA IS BACK IN XXL STYLE FOR SUMMER 2026
Sunset Cinema is back baby! 🌅
You know it already... but on the other hand, we have great news to reveal to you about the 2026 edition! 🍿✨
The largest ever Lux-City program is THIS SUMMER: 2 films in one evening, cinema every day, concerts, activities... in short, summer looks well packed!
From July 29 to August 16, from Wednesday to Sunday, head to Central Kirchberg Park for three weeks of open-air cinema, music, and good moments to share.
Two screens, two atmospheres, twice the fun!
At 6 PM, families take the stage with programming designed for little movie buffs on a screen dedicated to children.
A little extra we love: Luxembourgish musicians will come to accompany the evenings with performances inspired by the films... and yes, the famous little dance that makes us smile every year will also be back 💃
Then at 9:45 PM, the big films take place under the stars. Sit comfortably, look up at the sky, and enjoy this atmosphere that you only find in summer! Each session will start with a Luxembourgish short film presented by the Film Fund Luxembourg 🇱🇺🎬
But Sunset Cinema is not just movies... it's a real evening experience:
🎵 Live concerts and activities, 🍕 Food trucks to snack and toast on site, 📸 Homemade photobooth (a bit vintage, but it's also what makes its charm 😉), a dog-friendly event 🐶
And the best part? It's free!
So bring your blanket, chair, or picnic cover and settle in to enjoy the evening. Don't feel like carrying your entire house? Lounge chairs will be available for rent and blankets will be provided if the temperature decides to play shy.
An XXL karaoke to sing out loud is scheduled for August 5, get your vocal cords ready! 🎤
