Patrick Deville, one of the most nomadic contemporary writers, traverses lands and seas to recount, by retracing time, the accelerated history of the world from 1860 to the present. Through his 'nonfiction novels' comprising the 'Abracadabra' project, he depicts the major political, artistic, scientific, economic revolutions, and the smaller human stories. His works, published in nine volumes to date, take us from Central America to India, passing through the Amazon and Saint-Nazaire, where he settles for his ninth book. Between exploration and reflection, his project captures the essence of our history and its multiple journeys.

Patrick Deville was born in 1957 and has published around fifteen novels translated into several languages. He won the Prix Femina in 2012 for "Peste & Cholera."
