Stefano Di Battista - Thionville Jazz Festival 2025
Saxophonist Stefano Di Battista celebrates the golden age of Italian music with La Dolce Vita, a vibrant album that revisits iconic masterpieces of the Italian repertoire. Inspired by the cultural and musical richness of the era, it offers a modern and captivating reinterpretation of legendary compositions by Nino Rota, Paolo Conte, Nicola Piovani, Lucio Dalla, and Ennio Morricone.
Accompanied by a talented group of musicians – Matteo Cutello (trumpet), Fred Nardin (piano), Andrea Sorrento (bass) and Luigi del Prete (drums) – Di Battista breathes new life into timeless pieces like “Volare”, “Con te partirò”, “Una lacrima sul viso” and “Tu vuò fa l'americano”. His subtle approach blends melodic exposition and improvisation, transforming each track into a unique musical experience, both respectful of the past and resolutely contemporary.
Born in Rome, Stefano Di Battista established himself on the international jazz scene after a promising start to his career in Paris. Known for his virtuoso playing and melodic sensitivity, he has recorded several acclaimed albums on the prestigious Blue Note label, including Round About Roma, Parker's Mood, and Troubleshootin'. Following Morricone Stories, he returns with La Dolce Vita, a passionate tribute to Italy's musical heritage, intended to bring these masterpieces to today's audiences.
