A romantic entanglement racing full steam towards inevitable drama, "L'Énigme" is imbued with the presence of Marlene Dietrich, a femme fatale casting her spell on a wretched soul played by Uno Henning. Interpreted by the contemporary ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin, the score by composer and vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher meticulously underscores the dramatic tension of the film. Numerous solo passages, blending jazzy approaches and minimalism, imbue this striking work with unexpected soundscapes, far from the traditions of silent cinema of the 1920s.
