This conference, with supporting examples, shows how STATEC transforms raw data into valuable insights for public debates and decisions, through rigorous and neutral analyses. The speech charts the path for a modernized public statistics system: connecting and enhancing administrative data into high-quality statistics, increasingly detailed and rapidly available. This strengthens the impact of analyses through their relevance, optimizes the efficiency of public action through continuous assessment, and enhances trust in statistics, a key pillar of democracy. Tom Haas served at STATEC in roles including Policy Officer in the "Studies, Forecasts and Research" unit, then "Modeling and Forecasts". Appointed as head of the "Economic Situation, Modeling and Forecasts" department in 2023, he became director of STATEC in November 2024.
