Summer. It's hot, and a family gathers by the lake. Konstantin has dropped out of his studies and, with Nina, whom he is madly in love with, is preparing a play that is meant to revolutionize theater. In the audience are his mother, the famous Arkadina, and her lover, the successful writer Trigorine. But Konstantin’s worst nightmare occurs: before the play is even over, an argument breaks out. Family relationships are shaken, new couples form, and nothing will ever be the same again.
Tchekhov’s "The Seagull" is one of the most performed plays worldwide, and this is the first time this text is presented in a modern adaptation in Luxembourgish. Free, direct, and unfiltered, this version puts the characters at the center of a generational conflict and social tensions that are still relevant today. What is the place of young people? What is worth fighting for? Where are compromises made, and what should one believe in life? The characters in this classic are searching for meaning and support. They love each other, talk past each other, try to believe in one another, and are deeply and movingly human, just like you and me.
