In December 1851, Victor Hugo, the acclaimed writer, flees France with his family due to the regime of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. Their exile lasts for twenty years, throwing the Hugo family into uncertainty. Adèle, his daughter, keeps the 'Journal of Exile', a collective account written for her family, and also writes a private diary in 'gibberish' to preserve her freedom. This diary reveals a different voice, full of humor, desires, and sometimes despair, expressing her longing for freedom over the years. The event highlights the work of Laura El Makki, author and journalist, and Frank Wilhelm, professor and French literature specialist.
