When artists and craftsmen come together
Echoing the exhibition Vu Lilien a Linnen at the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart dedicated to Art Nouveau in Luxembourg, this guided walk led by historian Robert Philippart explores the architectural gems of the Belle Époque in the city center. Art Nouveau, which emphasizes craftsmanship in response to or applied with new building materials (iron, glass and concrete), led to the emergence of two schools: the School of Industry and Commerce and the State School of Craftsmen. Participants will observe how, in architecture, this movement balances innovation and tradition by moving away from historicist constraints. The tour will be held in Luxembourgish.
