The group comprises singer/guitarist Peter "Balboa" Brugger, bassist Rüdiger Linhof, and drummer Florian "Rakete" Weber. Their name derives from their former soccer instructor Hans Stiller; they added "Sportfreunde" (German for "sports friends") when another band claimed the Stiller name. The group released its debut EP, Macht Doch Was Ihr Wollt, Ich Geh Jetzt, shortly after forming.
