Around the world, between the ages of 15 and 25, people dream about their lives, observe, search for themselves, then make decisions and take responsibility for their choices. In Mayotte, young girls and women live these years with particular intensity in a rapidly changing environment. Their grandmothers experienced the island without running water or electricity, while today’s generation discovers the world online.
At the crossroads of tradition and modernity, young women in Mayotte blend multiple influences to find their own paths. Three actresses, Anzmat Ahmadi, Nawoile Said Moulidi, and Anturia Soilihi, from Mayotte and the Comoros, portray the voices of these women, sharing stories of struggle, tenacity, and the humor required to face difficult contexts and contradictory demands.
