Too offbeat, singular, experimental, or simply different, some films struggle to find a place in movie theaters and fade into the shadows. This is often regrettable. La Scala dedicates a unique monthly screening to these films at 8pm.

PILLION, by Harry Lighton with Harry Mellind, Alexander Skarsgård. Colin, an introverted young man, meets Ray, the seductive and charismatic leader of a motorcycle club. Ray introduces him to his community and makes him his submissive. Since Kenneth Anger's films, we know the erotic and cinematographic potential of bikers: the fantasy of virile bodies brushing against each other on cinematic nights, the strange ballet of bodies between domination and surrender. A first feature film of stunning mastery, Pillion takes an unexpected turn. Here we find the Kenneth Anger-like colossus, the leather gear, the roaring bike, the virile eroticism – but as if teleported into the universe of a Nora Ephron comedy. Colin, a withdrawn young man singing Christmas songs in a bar with his band, meets the gaze of Jay, an Adonis clad in motorcycle gear. Something happens, indescribable: a true romantic comedy love at first sight. In a dark alley, however, the film reveals its true drive: Ray will make Colin his slave, his submissive, his object. But far from a mere lustful fantasy, Pillion turns these practices into a true cartography of feelings. If Ray dominates, it is because Colin desires to submit. Driven by Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård, each fascinating between vulnerability and power, the film explores desire, domination, and self-discovery with exhilarating freedom, constantly moving between discomfort, humor, and emotion.
