How can we transform what already exists? How can we give a building a second life? How can we bring its history back to life in a different way? What kind of dialogue can be created between the old and the contemporary without distorting the identity and heritage value of the site? The challenge is a substantial one: imagining new transformations for the Casino Luxembourg building. To understand the building, the children first carry out an observation exercise to identify the characteristic elements of its architecture. They then highlight them by creating a model of its façades with extraordinary proportions ! All that remains is to imagine the interior layout, with new spaces and perhaps new uses for the building ! The aim is to reflect on how a heritage site can evolve and adapt to today’s needs without losing what makes it rich and distinctive.
