Slam is an open mic format that started in the 1980s in Chicago, thanks to Marc Smith. Anyone can come and perform a text, a poem, a song, or express themselves on an open stage, with no decor, costumes or accessories. 3 minutes max, a cappella. Whether you tell stories, rap, sing, do theater or improv, or recite poetry, you are welcome—come to perform or to listen... or both!
