The session dates are Thursdays, October 12, November 12, December 17, and January 28 at 6:00 p.m. This course offers an exploration of the major themes of history, art, and society in the 19th and 20th centuries, with special attention to the role of women in historical, cultural, and social developments. Through an accessible and richly illustrated approach, participants will discover the Belle Époque and the profound transformations it brought about, the history of the Belgian Congo in the European context of the 20th century, as well as the journeys of Luxembourgish women who have made their mark on the country's history over the centuries. The course will also address the contributions of Luxembourgish women to the history of sport and the beginnings of the modern Olympic Games. By putting these various themes into perspective, this training invites a better understanding of the connections between history, art, and society, and to shed light on the present through the legacies of the past.
