As part of the exhibition “200 ans de lumière : l’aventure photographique” at the Musée de la Tour aux Puces, a screening of Christophe Cognet’s documentary on clandestine photographs taken by deportees in the camps. In the concentration and extermination camps of the Second World War, a handful of deportees risked their lives to take clandestine photographs and attempt to document the hell that the Nazis hid from the world. Walking through the remains of these camps, filmmaker Christophe Cognet retraces the paths of these exceptionally courageous men and women to uncover the circumstances and stories behind their photographs. Step by step, the film creates an archaeology of images as acts of sedition and testimony.
