The awards ceremony for the 19th edition of CinEast will be followed by a screening of the closing film, “The Diary of a Chambermaid” by Radu Jude. Freely inspired by Octave Mirbeau’s novel, the film follows Gianina, a Romanian migrant working as a nanny for a middle-class family in Bordeaux while her daughter remains in Romania. It explores migration, class, belonging and the human cost of economic necessity.
