The First World War Heritage Mission is launching the first edition of Grands Jours de la Mémoire, a travelling event in France and Belgium dedicated to the Western Front’s funerary and memorial sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Young people from Moselle will take part in a ceremony around the Flame of the Unknown Soldier, brought from Verdun. Discussions will explore the meaning of commemoration, the symbolism of the necropolis and the history of the flame. An exhibition on the funerary and memorial sites of Alsace-Moselle will be presented in the chapel of the Chambière necropolis.
