My body keeps changing my mind
The saddest death of a pop icon: LGBTQI+ idol Karen Carpenter. She died around 40 years ago as a result of her anorexia at the age of 32.
The Carpenters are the most successful sibling pair in pop history, having sold millions of records worldwide to date. With buttery ballads they conquered the hearts of an America in need of harmony in the 1970s. But the pressure to succeed is getting to Karen. The “tomboy” behind the drums becomes a front woman in the constant spotlight, who struggles with her body and the beauty ideals of her time and loses more and more weight until her heart finally stops. She is the first documented anorexia corpse in pop. After her death, eating disorders became a topic in the media for the first time.
