“The term symphony means to me: building a world with all available technical means. » With his Third Symphony, Mahler composed the largest symphony ever written up to that point, even greater than his Second. A cosmic work that embraces all aspects of Creation: from inert rock to the starry sky, including all forms of animal and plant life, including humans. In addition to a gigantic orchestra, the work summons Nietzsche, the collection of popular poetry The Wonderful Horn of the Child, a mezzo-soprano, a women's choir and a children's choir (the angels).
