BMAD, also known as Boogie Music Against Depression (or Blues Makes A Difference), was created in 2020 during the pandemic as a duo, aiming to have fun and protect themselves from depression. In 2023, BMAD expanded into a trio, featuring Christian Ries on piano and vocals, Paulo Simões on guitar, and Rob Schauls on drums. BMAD delights audiences with a captivating mix of boogie-woogie, blues, timeless jazz classics, and their own compositions. Their distinctive sound is influenced by renowned musicians like Louis Armstrong, Eddie Boyd, Jimmie Bell, Leroy Carr, John Len Chatman (Memphis Slim), Blind John Davis, Champion Jack Dupree, Eleanora Fagan (Billie Holiday), Eroll Garner, Sammy Price, Roosevelt Sykes, and Fats Waller.
