Now he and the mouflon together come under threat from hunters who have already slaughtered the once numerous desert gazelles. The novel combines pertinent ecological issues with a moving portrayal of traditional desert life and the power of the human spirit to resist." Ibrahim Al-Koni is a Libyan writer, born in 1948 in the Fezzan region, Ghadamis City. He was brought up in the traditions of the Tuareg, a large Berber ethnic group, traditionally nomadic, who principally inhabit the Sahara. His writing is characterized by spiritual and existential questioning and is inspired by the Sufi tradition.
