The film "Touching Earth" presents the ongoing revival of raw earth construction, a material as old as architecture itself.
Experts in archaeology, material science, architecture, and construction techniques reveal the various facets of earthen buildings, echoing the progress of a so-called "participatory" construction site. Apprentices discover how to hand-shape an earthen wall, adding a little straw and water found on site.
From floor to wall, from the kneading hand to the high-tech construction site, an extraordinary journey towards what sometimes seems so ordinary: earth and the act of building.
