Being Dead knows how to make an entrance, a fact made obvious by their studio albums and their live performances. The Texas-based band’s records are like mosaics, each song its own self-contained little universe where we can soak in stories of carefree shoplifters, fruitless 9‑to-5s, wayward cowboys, and the final moments of a lonely Buffalo on the range. Merging surf rock, freak pop and frantic punk, Being Dead never want to do the same thing twice on any song, and they don’t.
The evening will start with a trio from Luxembourg: Odds Ratio. Their sound is in a constant state of flux – the subtle ignition of a high voltage engine. Building on the premise of a deceptively simple yet varied sound, Odds Ratio provides a listening experience that comes with instant rewards. Most notably, the wistful quality conveyed by the lyrics is dramatically enhanced by interlocking moving parts: propulsive drums, hypnotic basslines collide with versatile guitars riffs to stunning effect.
