"Waves of Light" (Vagues de lumière) offers a harmonious meeting of jazz and choral singing. This project was born from the collaboration between Paul Lay, a pianist steeped in African-American tradition, and Joël Suhubiette, founder in 1997 of the chamber choir Les Éléments. With the Paul Lay Trio (piano, double bass, drums), Les Éléments reinterprets selected pieces from Purcell, Bach, or Ligeti and performs original compositions by Paul Lay inspired by the poetry of Victor Hugo, Emily Dickinson, or Pablo Neruda. The result is a shimmering of sound lights refracted through the prism of an unprecedented musical fusion.
