After forming a legendary first quartet in the early 1990s (with Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade), Joshua Redman introduced jazz into the 21st century with a second exceptional quartet, subtle and inventive like all of the American saxophonist's music. Their first albums, "Beyond" and "Passage of Time," released at the dawn of the 2000s, immediately highlighted the group's collective musical intelligence and openness to other musical realms. This respect for jazz tradition was reaffirmed during their reunion in 2019 for the excellent "Come What May."
