Concerto Against Piano and Orchestra
Does the term 'concerto' originate from the Latin concertare (to struggle) or conserere (to unite)? To tackle this question, the Orchestre La Sourde reimagines the ritualized ceremony of the concert in an exuberant celebration blending Baroque, Classical, Jazz, and improvised ancient music, humorously traversing between music and theater. What will remain of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's keyboard concerto Wq 43/4? One certainty: it will be thoroughly transformed, as will be the micro-society of the orchestra. Things will be shaken up between the stands...
