For this first edition, the C²DH invites you to discover the stories of some of the notable figures who have visited Esch-sur-Alzette over the past decades. From Grand Duke Jean to Pope John Paul II, from Tito to Ceaușescu, these historic encounters have left a lasting mark on the city. Have you experienced these unique moments? We would be delighted to collect your memories or impressions of these key moments.
The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a mini-exhibition, a photo challenge, and lively discussions on the contemporary history of Luxembourg. Come discover the C²DH's activities, including research projects by Dominique Santana (a web documentary on Radio Luxembourg and a transmedia project on ARBED in Brazil), Joëlla van Donkersgoed (the crowdsourced collection of Luxembourg's history), Marten Düring (Impresso—a platform for analyzing past media), as well as the Maison du Son in Pétange, led by Andreas Fickers and Sebastian Döring.
Contribute to the creation of the festival's Guest Book by consulting those of the City of Esch or the National Museum of Resistance and Human Rights: don't miss the bookbinding workshop led by Danielle Köller-Willems, where you will learn how to make your own booklet and leave with a unique handmade souvenir!
The event is designed for all audiences: customers, families, children, etc.
In the evening, meet at 6:30 p.m. at Kinepolis Belval for an exceptional cinema program with the screening of two documentaries:
18:30 – Tito Among the Serbs for the Second Time by Želimir Žilnik
20:15 – Nicolae by Mihai Grecu
Each screening will include an introduction and a Q&A session with the directors in attendance—a unique opportunity to explore the story through film and dialogue.
