Regular guided tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes us on a journey of discovery through Italy's iconic cities and regions. Over a period of three centuries and from the hands of Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it presents idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of everyday life in urban settings. The paintings share the southern light, the elegance of the architecture, the charm of the landscapes, and the omnipresence of Antiquity.
In addition to the views of the mentioned cities, there are capricci, imaginative compositions of ancient ruins in bucolic landscapes. The Roman squares painted by Gaspar van Wittel, the Venice of Canaletto, or the industrial city of Milan as seen by the futurist Umberto Boccioni are among the centerpiece displays.
At the end of the exhibition, visitors of all ages can create their own capriccio as a digital collage. A coloring corner and a quiz round off the attractions for families with children.
