Regular guided tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes us on a journey of discovery through Italy's iconic cities and regions. Over a period of three centuries and from the hand of Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it presents idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of everyday life in urban settings. The paintings share southern light, architectural elegance, landscape charm, and the omnipresence of Antiquity. Alongside views of the mentioned cities, there are capricci, imaginative compositions of ancient ruins in bucolic landscapes. Highlights include Roman squares painted by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), the Venice of Canaletto (1697-1768), and the industrial city of Milan as seen by futurist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916). At the end of the exhibition, visitors of all ages can create their own capriccio as a digital collage. A coloring corner and a quiz round off the attractions for families with children.
