A composer’s profound love of nature expressed in sound. Pol Albrecht (1874-1975), musician-composer and conductor of the Luxembourg Military Orchestra (1937-1939), is celebrated for his great military marches but is less known for his rich repertoire of choral songs, especially on passionate themes of homeland, family, and nature. During this concert organized by the City of Luxembourg, the international singers who make up CARPE DIEM AND FRIENDS, conducted by Philip Dutton at the initiative of Christopher Albrecht, the composer’s great-grandson, aim to revive the themes of beauty and the power of nature omnipresent in Pol Albrecht’s work. The concert will be held in parallel with the festivities marking the ephemeral open-air exhibition LUGA and an exhibition at the National Library of Luxembourg on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death.
