“AI – Artificial Interweaving” is an art project that addresses plastic pollution and makes the invisible visible through public participation. At LUGA 2025, an imposing metal structure equipped with a reel of recycled plastic strips—from bottles collected in Luxembourg—will invite visitors to weave a weather-resistant and durable rope. This evolving work will shape the outdoor exhibition space, transforming waste into art while making the recycling process transparent and tangible.
By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern recycling techniques, the project encourages active participation. Visitors will not only be able to weave plastic waste together, but will also learn about recycling methods through their own artistic participation and demonstrations.
Once a major textile district bordered the Luxembourg River. This project pays homage to the city's industrial past while promoting the sustainable use of resources. By connecting history, present, and future, it creates a community committed to environmental awareness. "AI – Artificial Interweaving" will not only be a highlight of the exhibition, but also a platform for dialogue on sustainable development in urban spaces—demonstrating how art and ecological awareness can go hand in hand.
