"The Grand Duke's ceremonial tour" - Accession to the throne
October 4th will mark the first anniversary of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume. On this occasion, he will honor the people of the Grand Duchy, their diversity, their expertise, their achievements, as well as the cultural and community scene.
During this day, the Grand Duke will travel through five stages, truly representative snapshots of the diversity of Luxembourg society. The first stage will take place in Grevenmacher, where he will meet women and men from civil society, volunteers and professionals who are committed to promoting and expanding the influence of sports and its athletes, young and old.
It is in Wiltz, in the second stage, that he will pay tribute to diversity and living together, by participating in a convivial event. A participatory video installation will highlight the many nationalities living in the region, as well as its cultural generosity, through an original musical performance.
It is then in Steinfort that he will pay tribute to the kindness and solidarity that make up society, meeting the healthcare staff and patients of his Intercommunal Hospital. Through them, it is all those who serve society tirelessly, even during the holidays, who will be highlighted.
Before reaching the capital, the Grand Duke will not fail to stop in the south of Luxembourg, and it is in Dudelange that he will attend a choreographic performance, retracing the transformations of society across its territory, cultural creation flourishing on the soil of the industrial past.
The grand finale of this tour will first take place on the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge, a true symbol of the capital and the resilience of Luxembourg society. Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie, carried by a dynamic orchestral performance, will advance across the bridge surrounded by a representation of society and a multicolored ballet of trams.
On the forecourt of the Glacis, a tailor-made drone show and a unique concert will follow, showcasing the talents of Luxembourg's diverse music scene.
Throughout this historic day, three popular festivals will take place simultaneously at three ends of the country: Wiltz, Luxembourg, and Dudelange. These three popular festivals will offer a cultural and entertainment program in keeping with their identity, as well as a public viewing of the Grand Duke's tour, which will last from noon to midnight.
