This duo is composed of two Luxembourg musicians: Jean-Jacques Mailliet and Max Serra. Their repertoire is characterized by original compositions influenced by their individual and collective musical backgrounds. They combine elements of Irish and Norwegian folk music with their passion for jazz.
The two musicians met at the Luxembourg Conservatory as children, and then continued their training together at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP).
Although the double bass and the violin belong to the same family of instruments and are almost identical in construction, they offer a striking contrast. Jean-Jacques and Max's artistic partnership reflects their differences: on the one hand, a very different personality from the other, and on the other, musical styles and personalities that complement and complement each other.
GeiBassGei takes the audience on a personal musical journey, telling a shared story from two different perspectives, with all its ups and downs, on double bass and violin.
