Located in the Centre region with his company 1-0-1, Christoph Guillermet is a digital puppeteer. On a white screen, he brings forth video shadows that he animates, virtual calligraphies, and landscapes inspired by Japanese prints. The images, sounds, and animations are manipulated live using a multimedia instrument developed by the artist specifically for this project, the Koto.
Designed as a series of imagined and sensory haikus, the narration is purely visual and auditory, presented with softness. It allows children to identify forms and let themselves be transported elsewhere through multiple transformations. The digital appearance surprises, flows, fades, escapes but never evokes fear. On the contrary, it becomes a terrain conducive to exploration and imagination. With pen and Chinese ink, the drawings capture the audience's attention—young and old alike—before taking them on a poetic journey marked by humor, surprises, and a touch of craziness. Delightful!
