The life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are brilliantly depicted in this film by Milos Forman, inspired by the play of the same name by Peter Shaffer. The film, awarded 8 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director in 1985, presents the rivalries at the opera, court intrigues, and Mozart's exuberant personality as seen through Salieri’s eyes. The originality of Amadeus lies in portraying Mozart through Salieri, with outstanding performances, especially by F. Murray Abraham.
