Following Rigoletto (21-22) and La Cenerentola (24-25), the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg continue their collaboration with the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine with Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème. The production is directed by David Geselson, the acclaimed playwright and director of the 2024 Avignon Festival for his play Neanderthal, with Marta Gardolińska conducting. By telling the story of a group of penniless Parisian bohemian students and the doomed love between Mimi and the poet Rodolfo, La Bohème also recounts the upheavals of an entire era: the 19th century, with its revolutions and the aspirations of its people for freedom and autonomy. This production highlights how history shapes the destinies of individuals, while simultaneously being shaped by them.
