Arguably Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy, "Macbeth" (also called the Scottish Play), is here condensed to two characters and its blazing core: Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Both don’t just dream of the Scottish crown and unlimited power—promised by supernatural forces—they ruthlessly act on their ambitions, ultimately falling due to their own greed and pride. John von Düffel, author, translator, and dramaturg, has reimagined Shakespeare’s masterpiece as a psychological chamber play, both a political thriller and an exploration of a complex couple’s relationship. Directed by Sewan Latchinian, Jacqueline Macaulay and Hans-Werner Meyer play the Scottish royal couple. Brilliant and unsettling, their performances make this concentrated version of "Macbeth" intense and captivating. Adapted by John von Düffel.
