Louise Nevelson's work does not spontaneously evoke dance. However, starting from her paradoxically titled sculptures, Moving-Static-Moving Figure, Hélène Marquié, professor at the University of Paris 8 and dance specialist, sheds light on the place of dance in the artist's universe and creative processes. A shared vision of art and creative energy, as well as converging questions, connects Louise Nevelson to the great choreographic modernity artists: Marie Wigman in Germany, Isadora Duncan, and especially Martha Graham in the United States. Along with them, Louise Nevelson is at the forefront of a modernity concerned with breaking the boundaries between different fields.
