Once again, Daniel, an architect, comes home late from work and asks if there is anything left to eat. His wife Sibylle, a doctor, is annoyed: the children, who were eagerly waiting for their father, have already had dinner and are now asleep. Sitting on the sofa, she tries to watch a documentary, but her husband, who has reheated the leftover lasagna, keeps interrupting her with trivial questions. The atmosphere is tense.
At that moment, Daniel’s phone rings: it’s his ex, Franziska, who has just broken up with her boyfriend and asks Daniel if she can spend the night at their place. He refuses. Later, the doorbell rings again: Franziska is on the doorstep and insists on staying. Her arrival brings unresolved tensions and questions about the couple’s dynamic and their past.
The new bitingly humorous play by Marius von Mayenburg explores the extreme limits of a relationship pushed to the edge.
