In Chongqing, Wei desperately searches for his daughter Fa, while in Paris, Ren, a Hong Kong gallery owner, reconnects with his seriously ill mother-in-law, Sabine (played by Isabelle Huppert). Their separate paths converge in Luz, a fascinating virtual reality world inhabited by, among others, a mystical stag. In Luz, virtual reality becomes a metaphor for strained or lost relationships and a powerful desire for reconnection. Driven by an immersive visual aesthetic, as well as the performances of Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Pinna, Flora Lau's second feature film offers a rich reflection on isolation and hope.
