Set in a botanical garden, a centuries-old ginkgo tree shares its memories across more than a century, pausing in 1908, 1972, and 2020. Grete tries to find her place in a world that wants to make her invisible. Decades later, Hannes discovers both love and botany. During the pandemic, Tony engages in an intimate dialogue with the same tree. Around it, people cross paths, search for themselves, and are transformed. The immutable ginkgo links different eras and reminds us of the fragile alliance between humanity, science, and living things.
With the perspective of a centuries-old tree, Ildikó Enyedi's new film offers a sensorial immersion through three distinct periods, where the human relationship with nature explores feminist, environmental, and deeply intimate themes.
