A young undocumented immigrant from Morocco, Saad plans a perilous journey to Canada with his Iranian lover, Reza. Upon arrival in Montreal, Saad must save Reza from imminent deportation to Iran, where inevitable punishment awaits. Faced with this threat, Saad attempts the impossible: he seduces a high-ranking official at Canada's Ministry of Immigration in hopes of gaining favors for Reza's safety.
True to the sensitive cinema of Léa Pool, On sera heureux highlights the silences, gazes, and subtle emotions of its characters, relying on a minimalist direction and the subtle performances of its actors. A drama that looks unflinchingly at the blatant injustices of our societies.
