The Big Band of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Gabriel Pierné is led by Damien Prud'homme, saxophonist, composer, and active member of the European jazz scene. This large jazz ensemble consists of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and a rhythm section (piano, guitar, double bass, drums). It brings together 20 students preparing for a diploma in the jazz program of the conservatory.
Since 2008, they have explored repertoires by major jazz artists, including Miles Davis, Count Basie, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, Django Reinhardt, as well as Latin and Broadway jazz music. This year, the focus will be on the music of Pat Metheny. A musical programme that will appeal to all audiences.
