Writer, poet, and human rights activist, Mahtab Ghorbani develops writing that questions the links between the female body, memory, exile, and language. After leaving Iran for political reasons, she now lives and writes between several languages and geographies. Her literary work reflects on the condition of women in authoritarian societies, political violence, the erasure of female voices, and the possibilities for healing through writing. She has published two poetry collections: 'Mille vies inachevées' and 'Aucune mǎin n’exécutera notre liberté', exploring violence, resistance, and exile in an embodied and committed style. Her first novel, 'Écrire avec un couteau', received a CNL grant. Invited to many international literary festivals and events, her poems appear in various anthologies. Her current project, 'L’avenir désirable : écrire comme un acte de réparation', explores the future as a sensitive extension of the past, addressing the transformation of wounds tied to history, exile, and the experience of being a woman. During her residency, she aims to write a set of interconnected narrative and poetic texts centered on these themes, drawing from memories, dreams, bodily images, places, or myths.
