Presentation
"MisaTango" or "Misa Buenos Aires" (Mass in Buenos Aires) is initially a rather confidential work but gained much notoriety when it was performed in Rome in October 2013 during the International Festival of Sacred Music and Art at the Vatican.
Created 20 years ago by Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri, "MisaTango" is a choral mass with tango sounds. It follows the same movements as a classical Latin mass, enriched by the harmonies and syncopated rhythms of tango. The composer also introduces the emblematic instrument of tango, the bandoneon, as a soloist alongside a string orchestra (violins, violas, cellos, and double bass) and piano. A mezzo-soprano solo part punctuates the work, responding to the mixed choir.
More than 80 choristers will be on stage with a string orchestra made up of advanced students and teachers from the two partner institutions, as well as soloists (mezzo-soprano and accordion). Professors from the Talange Conservatory will perform: Lucille Crière (singing), Jérémie Olejniczak (accordion), Richard Laflamme (cello), and Nadine Huck (violin).
Participants: Chorales Amatys Yutz (conductor: Willy Fontanel) and Choeur de Femmes Voce Cantica de Talange (conductor: Lucille Crière). Soloists: Anne Weishar (mezzo-soprano), Jérémie Olejniczak (bandoneon). Temporary string orchestra of teachers, students from both schools and professional musicians.
