The Treaty of London of 11 May 1867 declared the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg a neutral and independent state. Major urban planners and non-Luxembourgish architects accompanied the transformation of the former fortress city into the capital of a country open to the world. Merchants, industrialists, and political or religious exiles all contributed to forging the identity of a country whose prosperity is based on cooperation with all residents. This guided tour offers a chance to witness this reality through stories of sites, monuments, works of art, as well as public and private buildings.
