After nine magnificent seasons, David Reiland is bidding farewell as head of the Orchestre national Metz Grand Est. His closing concert marks both an epilogue and a new beginning. The first part features the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss, some of the most moving swan songs in music history. Strauss sets the soprano voice to poetry that evokes the cycle of the seasons. A radical change of mood follows with the vibrant Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz, depicting the dreams and passions of a young, love-struck artist. A musical apotheosis full of fervor.
