Septets in Echo
- chamber music
- classical music
In 2028, we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Blanc, a violinist who was highly prominent during the Second Empire. He is little remembered today, partly because he favored chamber music at a time when opera was most popular. His Septet displays an elegant and expressive romanticism that, with the help of the clarinet, sometimes recalls Carl Maria von Weber. This piece will be presented alongside Beethoven's Septet, which uses the same instrumentation. Beethoven's composition, written by a young and brilliant musician adored by Vienna's public, stands apart with a tone quite different from the density he would later develop in his quartets and piano sonatas.
