The Quintette Syntonia invites us to a true tour de force. César Franck’s Quintet from 1880 is one of the most vibrant pieces in the French repertoire, inspired by a secret passion and described by Edouard Lalo as an “explosion” of colors. Louis Vierne, a student of Franck, composed his impressive Quintet in 1920 following a personal tragedy: the death of his son Jacques. The five soloists of Syntonia perform this poignant and essential work.
