The William Byrd Suite, orchestrated by Gordon Jacob, pays tribute to the English composer William Byrd. It is based on pieces from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, a keyboard collection (virginal and harpsichord). Through colorful and elegant orchestration, Gordon Jacob reveals all the refinement and dancing character, giving this Renaissance music new sonic life. With Alexia and the ghost orchestra by David Maslanka, we enter a poetic and imaginative world. The work tells the story of a little girl plunged into a dream where an orchestra of living instruments comes to life without musicians. Guided by Alexia, each instrument reveals its voice and colors. This narrative and evocative piece invites the audience on a journey to the heart of the orchestra and its magical power.
